• Summary:Located about five miles from downtown Knoxville in the Inskip and Norwood communities and visible from the I-75/I-640 junction, Bookwalter United Methodist traces its roots to an 1882 mission church and has evolved through three denominational changes. Led by Pastor Stephen K. Doyal with Children's Coordinator Edie Jo Hall on staff, the church offers children’s Sunday School for K–5 from 10:00–10:45 AM and a Children’s Church that begins in the sanctuary before youngsters leave with two adult teachers. Worship and programs are accessible in person or online via Zoom and YouTube, and youth are active in large events like Resurrection (see the 2024 video from Pigeon Forge). The congregation hosts community groups such as United Women in Faith, a Suicide Survivors Loss Group (2nd & 4th Tuesdays at 7:00 PM), and C.O.F.F.E.E. House Church gatherings, provides facility rentals and monthly PDF newsletters, and assists with online giving setup (contact mmahoney@utk.edu); its mission is “Sharing God’s love with our neighbors, inviting them to share in the joy of Jesus Christ.”
