• Summary:Light of the Valleys meets in the North Valleys of Reno just off Hwy 395 at 8790 N Red Rock Rd #103 and began public worship in March 2018 (officially organized May 2019). Pastors Joel Heckendorf and Dan Waterstradt lead a growing congregation — Joel was elected president of the Arizona-California District (WELS) in 2024, the church added a second pastor that year, has hosted four pastoral interns (2020–2024), and purchased four acres near the Red Rock exit to build a permanent home. Worship is Thursdays at 7:00 PM and Sundays at 9:30 AM, sermons and podcasts are available on YouTube and Apple Podcasts, and visitors can sign up for the pastor’s weekly “Get Eyedrops” text by texting DROP to (775) 316-7878; social handles use lovlutheranreno. Programs include Kids Jam for ages 3–11 (1st & 3rd Sundays), Early Explorers for 0–5, an 11-week Starting Point course, a men’s breakfast (2nd & 4th Fridays at Bonanza Casino), and an annual soccer camp for ages 4–14 that typically draws 100+ kids (registration $50, scholarships available); membership is projected to exceed 115 by the end of 2025.
